Eric + Empee + Cleo

Empee and Eric got married in Hawaii in April. This is not Hawaii. And these were taken in June. Wondering why they got all dressed up again a couple months later? Because their fur baby, Cleo, couldn’t make it to their destination wedding and they wanted to celebrate with her too! So when Empee reached out to me with what she wanted, there was no way I could say no. I mean, how could you not want to photograph a couple in their wedding day outfits and an adorable pup.

having photos taken back at home also meant that they got to have more photos taken of just them two without super strict wedding day time restraints.

I played their wedding song and I didn't even need to direct. I was pretty much in tears watching them dance and we were literally only ten minutes into the session. They are just so sweet.

A Year Flies

Kiara turned one. I photographed her as a newborn, a 6 month old, and recently as a one year old. I loved seeing not only her growing into her one year old sweet self, but also seeing Rich & Janet grow as parents! This milestone for them also meant me another year into my photography journey.

I remember arriving to their home and being nervous as hell. At that point in my photography career, I had done a few rounds of mini sessions, a brand shoot, a birth, a first birthday party, lots of event coverage, while photographing my own family in between, but never an in home newborn session.

A few from Kiara's newborn session.

A few months later, I got to work with them again to document their family at kiara's 6 month mark. I was so so excited to work with them and see how much Kiara had grown from being a newborn! I mean look at this sweet face.

I was thrilled they asked me to photograph their family again for kiara's first birthday!

Triligraphy + Rope & Rose Workshop

There are times when you meet people who just fit in your life at just the right time. You know, when you're very pregnant, stuck in a rut creatively, need motivation, need a quick laugh, or a little boost in confidence. Enter Kay (Triligraphy) and Brittney (Rope & Rose).

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to document them sharing their art at their joint calligraphy and macrame workshop that took place at the beautiful Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina.

The space is so beautiful with lots of windows that provide for gorgeous natural light and the outdoor grounds are just as beautiful too!

I took Kay's calligraphy class a few months ago and remember thinking at the start of class, "I'm totally gonna suck at this". An hour in, and I was getting the hang of it! I owe it to Kay, who took the time to explain each step to make sure I understood. I haven't had the chance to take one of Britt's classes yet, but from what I observed, was also thorough and took her time with each student. Watching them both connect with their workshop participants was such a joy and they provided a very relaxed, stress free, and non competitive atmosphere.

Kay and Britt both offer their classes at various locations in the Solano County area. If you're interested in learning calligraphy or macrame, make sure to follow them on instagram (triligraphy | rope & rose) to find out when their upcoming workshops are!

John Paul with Bersabe Films was also there taking video of the entire day and created two videos to highlight both Kay and Britt. Watch them below:

These two (you too, JP!) have been such a joy to work with (and send random text messages to, haha) and I am so lucky to have crossed paths with them both!
